Take a Chance

I know these are hard sayings. We are very compassionate about how difficult some of these things sound to your ears. But, they will grow on you. You will see the good fruit as the months and the years go by because God will begin to blossom flowers in the desert in ways that you have never dreamed of. The closer we get to His ways and the more we abandon our habits and our cultures and get rid of our fears, the more God will bring flowing water and flowers into the desert. He will bring streams in the desert that will make bountiful gardens grow forth.
These are hard sayings, but number one, they have the support and the authority of the Bible. And number two, you will see the fruit of them, I promise you, as you move on. We were in your shoes twenty years ago. And since then we’ve seen things happen in Christ that we don’t see happening in places that are encumbered by the traditions and titles and cultural things. We would never go backwards for a million dollars because God has set captives free. Truth sets free!
I know it’s a fearful thing and I know it is difficult. It’s because we have so many years of habits built up. But take a chance. You can always go back to bondage later if you want to. Take a chance and tiptoe your way into some of these things. If you walk up to Paul and say, “Paul, my dear, respected brother, I love you with all my heart. Speak to me.” I am sure he will feel the respect more than any titles we could ever give him. If we treat everybody that way, we’ll burst forth in flowers. I think you’ll see that. It’s scary, but it’s worth it.
