God's "Program"—Men Full of the Holy Ghost
We are a living organism. This is true and with a living organism there are harmonious relations. I also think that organization is a tool for harmony. Remember with Moses how he used organization? Wasn’t he being wise to be organized? Do you have something to say to help me with the way I feel?
When I consider the situation with Moses (Exodus 18), I have to keep in mind that the person who gave him that advice was a demonic priest. That’s who Moses’ father-in-law was. The source of Moses’ decision to organize was a priest of false gods. And it didn’t necessarily turn out that well in Moses’ case.
I would tend to go to the New Testament for my understanding. If there was ever a time to put a system in place, it was when 3,000 people were baptized in one day. Yet, when you read the Bible you never see a system. You never see anything like, “Let’s all break up into small groups with no more than fifteen people per group. Then, spread out into different parts of the city to evangelize.”
Luke, the scientist, who has given us a thorough, orderly account by his own testimony and by the Holy Spirit, suggested that no such system was ever put in place. If one had been, it would have been recorded just as it was with Moses. It was recorded that the systematic approach was advice from a Midian priest, a pagan, demon-worshipping father-in-law. So, I don’t think that is what we would want to use as our Biblical basis for New Testament life.
Sure, it works well for IBM and any external system. Man’s governments and businesses and corporations use hierarchy. They need to. So there’s a place for it and that’s not a problem. But when you look at the New Testament, the Holy Spirit has taken control of His people and bathed them in the Blood of Jesus and regenerated them from within. Now the Ancient of Days lives inside of every single new believer!
So, the organism of 3,120 Christians in a church is what there was. If all of a sudden you wake up in the morning and have 3,120 babies to care for, you have a problem. You have to figure out how to feed and house all of them.
What if within the Christian community today we have that same problem?
You would think that in Acts 2 you would see a hierarchy and systems put in place. You would expect that there would be programs to accomplish the tasks and people with titles to handle 3,120 people and the number was growing larger every day, right? So, what do you do? I would suggest Acts 6 answers that question. If there are men full of the Holy Ghost and full of wisdom day by day by day, they will know how to respond to the situation.
That is our only “system” or “plan.” Our “program” is to help as many people as possible who are full of the Holy Ghost and full of wisdom to be involved in overseeing and helping. Those people will be encouraging, watching, praying and serving the saints. They will change and adapt, doing whatever they need to do today to help all the needs be met, because it’s those that are full of the Holy Spirit who can See.
It’s like the human body. That’s an organism that can adapt.
Yes, exactly, like we talked about earlier. Your human eyes are like analog computers and are the most powerful computers on earth. The super-computers of IBM have never yet been able to match the power of an analog system like the human eye. It’s not digital, it’s analog. Scientists study slug’s brains to help them improve the super-computers. That’s because God’s organism is so much more powerful than any human organization could ever be. The slug’s brain is the closest they could come.
