Question about Paradise
When Jesus was being crucified, one man was beside Jesus who said bad words to Him. Jesus told the man on the other side of Him, “Today, you will be with Me in Paradise.” The paradise that Jesus was talking about, is it in heaven or is it down here on earth?
How could it be down here when the man was about to die? Jesus said “Today!” That meant today, didn't it?
The difference between the two criminals on either side of Jesus was that one of them was stubborn and prideful, and one of them was not. In spite of the fact that he was about to die, the one man was still an angry and prideful man. The other man was just as guilty of sin and crimes, but he softened his heart, admitted his sins and admitted that he deserved to die.
He looked at Jesus and said, “You have what I want. I am nothing, and I have nothing. I repent of my pride.” He turned his eyes toward Jesus and he leaned back in the chair and let go of his pride, his fear and his sin. One man let go and one man did not. And so one man would be with Jesus that day in Paradise and that is what Jesus said. Clearly Jesus was going to be in heaven, and that is where the man was going to be with Jesus.
So that means the Kingdom of God is in heaven and not here in this world?
Jesus said, “My Kingdom is not of this world.” That is what He said.
